On March 2, EOS founder BM (Daniel Larimer) updated the code of the new project Clarion on Github. BM said that Clarion OS has just started and is in the early design stage. A development team is being formed to build the first prototype, and the project will be developed in the open.
According to its introduction, Clarion's goal is to provide everyone in the world with the tools to spread their message to everyone who wants to hear it, without relying on centralized infrastructure. It will do so through a censorship-resistant "friend-to-friend" network that will leverage unused resources of friends and family to distribute content. Its ultimate goal is to provide the performance and reliability of a "centralized service" and the freedom and independence of a logically decentralized network. With the help of the Clarion community, people can free friends and family from the "tyranny" of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Amazon, Apple and Google, and create a social network free of manipulation and third-party dependencies.
From a technical point of view, Clarion has drawn experience and lessons from projects including RetroShare, Hive (formerly known as Steemit) and Voice, and adopts progressive web applications driven by Web Assembly in architectural design.
At the heart of Clarion OS is a friend-to-friend messaging protocol that allows the following types of message flows between encrypted identities:
Real-time person-to-person (video/chat)EthereumOne-to-many (like Twitter/Facebook)
Many-to-many (e.g. open chat/blockchain)
Utilizing the Web Assembly plugin, it should be possible to build many different types of applications on top of Clarion OS, including tokens and smart contracts. The main difference between Clarion OS and previous blockchain platforms is that the base layer does not need to agree on the "order" of user actions, nor does it need to interpret the meaning of transactions. If the typical
Ethereum
and EOS smart contracts as "layer 1", Clarion OS can be considered as "layer 0".
At this stage, Clarion OS has just started and is in the early design stages. A development team is being assembled to build the first prototype, which will be developed in an open environment.
Regarding social networking, BM once said: Social networks belong to everyone, everyone can contribute content, everyone has the right to comment on these content, social networks will reward content producers while producing content, and the produced content can be Google found, creating a network effect. BM undoubtedly has social experience. In fact, there are not many blockchain social media created by BM.
As early as 2016, BM made the social public chain Steem, and built Steemit on top of it.
Steemit is a decentralized social media network, similar to a blog that can make money. BM once said that you will not make money on other blog platforms, but you can make money on steem, so many people will come to steem to create content.
Like Bitcoin miners, the author mines by blogging (mind by blogging), that is, content mining. At the same time, create an ultra-large-scale distributed system to consume these contents, provide funds for these contents, and form an ecology.
