A GitHub user claims he lost 36.5 BTC due to a bug in his old Electrum wallet.

Prior to this, there were already reports that the bug caused another user to lose 1,400 BTC.

Electrum developers recommend that victims should call the police.

Yet another GitHub user claims he lost 36.5 BTC worth $430,000 due to a bug in an outdated version of his Electrum wallet. According to reports, since the end of 2018, hackers have stolen 2,171 BTC (approximately $25 million) in this way.

As reported yesterday, a GitHub user claimed to have lost 1,400 BTC (about $16 million) after recently accessing his Electrum wallet for the first time since 2017. This bug, which is more than 1 year old (and has been patched since then), caused the loss of funds, which were transferred to an unknown address. But it turns out he wasn't the only recent victim.

GitHub user named "Cryptbtcaly" responded, "I had a similar situation two months ago. 36.5 BTC was stolen from my address," adding, "Some of the stolen BTC went to Binance, but They ignored my pleas and the money is not coming back."

Although the victim claimed that Binance did not take any action on this theft, the exchange did take action on the previous 1,400 BTC theft. Regarding the theft, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao said that the exchange decided to blacklist the addresses of the alleged hackers.

"Not your code, not your funds. Watch out for official Electrrum (sic) updates. This guy lost 1400 BTC, and so many others lost funds."

As the exploit continues to claim new victims, Electrum developer Thomas Voegtlin advised affected users to report the lost money to the police, further stating that an investigation is currently underway.
