
The reporter learned at the CoinDesk 2019 New York Consensus Conference that Ground X, the blockchain division of South Korean Internet giant Kakao Corp, announced that the launch date of its blockchain platform Klaytn mainnet is June 27. Kakao has a 96 percent market share in South Korea, with a presence in messaging, games, content services, financial services and mobile services. Kakao announced its intention to launch a blockchain platform last March and released a Testnet version of Klaytn in October. The platform focuses on DApps. As of last October, the developers were working with about 10 domestic and international partners to test the new ecosystem. Kakao said it plans to release an integrated crypto wallet in its messaging app KakaoTalk after the Klaytn mainnet launch. (Cointelegraph)
