Analysis: If Democrats Win the U.S. Midterm Elections, Wall Street and the Crypto Industry May Face More Regulatory Scrutiny
Odaily News: If Democrats win a majority in the House or Senate in the U.S. midterm elections, while it may not necessarily prevent the Trump administration from advancing deregulatory policies for Wall Street banks, prediction markets, and the crypto industry, it would gain stronger investigative and oversight tools. If Democrats control either chamber of Congress, they would have subpoena power, larger investigative teams, and the authority to compel government officials and corporate executives to appear at hearings. Wall Street financial institutions, crypto companies, and related regulatory agencies could face more scrutiny. It is reported that crypto industry figures are particularly watching whether Representative Sean Casten may wield greater influence after Democrats regain control of the House Financial Services Committee. Casten has previously pushed to strengthen crypto regulation and opposed the industry-backed CLARITY Act. (Reuters)
Nobel Prize Sounds Alarm for the Fed? Warsh's Communication Cuts Face Theoretical Challenge
Odaily News: The 2026 Nobel Prize in Economics has turned the spotlight on a question that is undergoing change within the Federal Reserve: should the central bank continue to explain its policy logic to the market and signal the future direction of interest rates in advance?Bloomberg columnist Jonathan Levin noted in a commentary published on Tuesday that the research of this year's Nobel laureate in economics, Michael Woodford, happens to pose a challenge to Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh's stance on forward guidance and policy transparency. Levin argues that Warsh tends to reduce the Fed's external communication, while Woodford's research shows that how a central bank explains its policy decisions is itself an important part of how monetary policy works. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences on Monday awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Economics to American economists Robert E. Hall and Woodford, honoring their contributions to the theory of economic stability.
Ledger Reviews Device Sales Process and Evaluates Tamper-Proof Measures

Ledger Chief Technology Officer Charles Guillemet said on Tuesday that the company is also evaluating tamper-proof protections for its devices. He reminded users who suspect their devices have been tampered with to consult Ledger's published security guidelines before disassembling their hardware wallets themselves, and to send any suspicious devices to Ledger for further inspection.
Exclusive: Japan's Central Bank Leans Toward Avoiding Back-to-Back Rate Hike in October
Odaily News: According to foreign media reports, sources familiar with the matter revealed that Bank of Japan officials lean toward not implementing a rare back-to-back rate hike this month, but still keep the possibility of a rate hike as early as December on the table. The sources said that, absent any signs of a sudden rise in upside inflation risks, BOJ officials see no need for consecutive rate hikes. The central bank will carefully assess economic data to evaluate whether a new round of rate hikes can be launched at its December meeting. The sources said the final policy decision at the October 30 meeting could still change at the last minute. To contain upside inflation risks, the policy board led by Governor Kazuo Ueda raised interest rates to 1.25% last month. This followed pressure from Bessent for Japan to continue advancing policy normalization and help strengthen the yen. (Jinshi)
Most Americans Oppose Betting on Elections and Government Actions
Odaily reports that a poll shows approximately 69% of Democrats and 61% of Republicans oppose using prediction markets to bet on U.S. elections, military actions, and policy announcements, with only 8% and 9% respectively supporting such betting. Respondents consider such markets unethical, socially corrosive, and potentially harmful to national security. The prediction market industry, led by Polymarket and Kalshi, continues to expand, and policymakers are concerned that related platforms may open new channels for insider trading and manipulation.
Fed's Hammack: Prefers Smaller, More Frequent Rate Hikes

Morgan Stanley: Bond Market Is Doing the Fed's Tightening for It, a Moderate CPI Could Give Stocks Room to Breathe
Odaily News: As global bond yields continue to climb, Morgan Stanley believes the bond market is preemptively accomplishing part of the tightening the Federal Reserve would otherwise need to achieve through its policy rate, which could in turn create conditions that ease pressure on the stock market.Mike Wilson, Morgan Stanley's chief U.S. equity strategist, said the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield has risen about 120 basis points since February, marking a clear tightening of financial conditions. If this market-driven tightening is sufficient to slow the economy, the Fed may not need to further raise its policy rate to rein in demand in the future.Wilson believes investors currently need to watch two key indicators: the performance of financial stocks and bond market volatility. If the September CPI comes in moderate and pressure in the bond market eases, the Fed may gain more room to observe, and the stock market could also see a broader foundation for gains.
QCP Group: BTC Holds $80K Support, a Break Above $87K Could Push Toward $94K
Odaily — QCP Group stated in its latest market report that despite market disruptions from news of the U.S. government moving a large amount of BTC and a hack on Ledger, Bitcoin has maintained a range-bound trajectory, repeatedly failing to break through $87,000, though support at $80,000 remains relatively solid. If it effectively breaks above $87,000, the next target could point to $94,000.In the options market, Bitcoin's implied volatility remains elevated, while put option premiums have narrowed, indicating that the market prefers to wait for a directional breakout rather than adding defensive positions. Currently, long call butterfly options expiring on October 30 with strike prices of $90,000, $95,000, and $100,000 have become the main concentration of month-end positions.Additionally, this week's U.S. CPI and PPI data, as well as Fed Chairman Warsh's speech at the IMF and World Bank annual meetings, will be key market focuses. The report noted that the market is currently pricing in about a 17% probability of an October rate hike, and related macroeconomic data and policy signals could influence BTC's subsequent trajectory.
