Taiko Bridge Upgrade: Proposal 39 Completed Execution and Now Supports Permit, Permit2, and Increased Gas Limits
Odaily reports that Proposal 39 of Ethereum Layer 2 network Taiko has passed the community veto window and completed execution on both Ethereum L1 and Taiko L2. Following the upgrade, the ERC20Vault of the Taiko bridge now supports Permit and Permit2, allowing users to bridge tokens without initiating a separate Approve transaction; the Ether gas payment limit of the Taiko bridge has also been raised, and a new BridgedERC20V2 template has been deployed on both L1 and L2. Taiko stated that the related features have completed end-to-end testing, covering ETH, ERC20, ERC721, and ERC1155 assets as well as bidirectional bridging scenarios.
Qualified Trusts Participating in PoS Staking Do Not Lose Tax Benefits, US IRS Updates Safe Harbor Guidance
Odaily News: The US IRS released Revenue Procedure 2026-20 on October 6, updating and replacing Revenue Procedure 2025-31 issued in November 2025, clarifying that qualifying investment trusts and grantor trusts may participate in PoS staking while retaining tax benefit treatment. The IRS recognizes compliant staking as a "property preservation activity," keeping the trust on the passive side and preserving its investment trust and grantor trust status (IRC Sections 671 to 677).The safe harbor contains 14 requirements, including that shares be listed on a national exchange, that only a single digital asset be held, that assets be custodied by a qualified custodian, that the liquidity policy be approved by the SEC, and that staking rewards not be hoarded. The guidance applies to tax years ending on or after November 10, 2025.
Polygon Co-founder: Another 25 Million POL to Be Burned, Aiming for 1-Millisecond On-Chain Finality
Odaily: Polygon co-founder Sandeep posted that POL (formerly MATIC) remains "the most underrated and overlooked project." According to him, the POL community has recently accumulated and permanently burned 100 million POL through on-chain revenue, accounting for approximately 1% of the total supply, with an additional ~25 million POL set to be burned and currently being accumulated.Sandeep also stated that Polymarket has launched perpetual contracts on Polygon; with recent upgrades, Polygon PoS is gradually evolving toward a more advanced blockchain, and is expected to achieve 1-millisecond finality through block streaming in the future. Additionally, OMS will soon enable Polygon to process approximately 1 million additional transactions per day.

All product revenue will be used for buyback and burn, Cronos Labs initiates CRO governance proposal
Odaily reports that Cronos Labs has initiated a governance proposal on GitHub to use all product revenue generated by Ult and Cronos Launch on a monthly basis for open market buybacks and burning of CRO, with the relevant on-chain transaction hashes to be made public. Operational, infrastructure, and growth expenditures are planned to be covered by existing funds.Additionally, Cronos Labs plans to use strategic reserves to supplement future Cronos POS staking rewards, in order to maintain existing reward parameters as CRO inflationary emissions gradually decay. The staking method, lock-up period, and reward structure will remain unchanged. The proposal is currently in the discussion phase and will subsequently be submitted for on-chain governance voting; the voting period is 14 days, the quorum is 33.4% of staked CRO, and it will pass with more than 50% of non-abstaining votes in favor.

Polygon PoS Nodes Fall Out of Consensus, Polygon Labs Issues Urgent Client Upgrade Notice
Odaily News: Polygon Labs has issued an urgent notice stating that following the activation of the Austin and Kyoto hard forks, Polygon PoS nodes still running older versions of Bor or Heimdall have fallen out of consensus and need to upgrade their clients and catch up with the network. Austin was activated at mainnet block 91,949,700, requiring nodes to run Bor v2.10.0 or higher. Kyoto was activated at block height 51,533,000, requiring nodes to run Heimdall v0.11.0 or higher. Austin addresses two types of Bor resource exhaustion risks: L1 to L2 bridge state sync events are not counted against the gas limit, which could slow down block processing; and the TxDependency field lacks size restrictions, which could lead to peer node crashes.
