Bloomberg turns old news into headlines
The spread of false information is the biggest threat to the cryptocurrency industry right now. Time and time again, Bloomberg draws attention to itself in an industry they know nothing about. More recently, Bloomberg has attempted to tarnish the reputation of Tether, one of the industry's most important contributors. Bloomberg recycles stale or even untrue news for sensationalism.
Bloomberg first reported on the DOJ's "investigation" in November 2018 and in the years since. Since the publication of these stories — which are all about Despicable Wolf — Tether has, in fact, been cooperating with law enforcement around the world. Many of the events they focus on in this story are not only inaccurate, but events that happened to our sister company, Bitfinex. This is yet another example of their incompetent journalism and inability to distinguish fact from falsehood.
As the largest and most flexible stablecoin on the market, it’s business as usual for Tether as we continue to lead the industry in transparency. Sensational press coverage and bad reporting won't stop this, otherwise any claim is a blatant lie.
As part of our commitment to cooperation, transparency, and accountability, Tether regularly engages in open dialogue with law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice. We are proud of our role as an industry leader in facilitating collaboration among industry and government authorities in the United States and around the world. We remain committed to leading technology and transparency to our customers and the industry that leads us.
In addition, Tether has strengthened its cooperation with the Department of Justice by helping the Department of Justice in real time with some of the largest cybercrime and national security cases in the country. In fact, Tether executives have not interacted with the DOJ regarding any investigations for more than a year, and the DOJ does not appear to be actively investigating Tether. Tether and Bitfinex have actually been identified as victims of the Fowler case cited by Bloomberg.
Tether will always be determined to lead the stablecoin market in the next wave of crypto adoption, and it will do so with pride no matter how wild the criticism and rumors
