Judging from the performance of many aspects, the current development of EOS is not satisfactory. Some members left the EOS ecology one after another, and those who insisted on staying also expressed their understanding of this "leaving".
Regarding the decadence of the EOS ecology, we cannot and cannot whitewash the peace. As a once star project, EOS squandered all the market leadership it initially had, since the mainnet launch in June 2018, we have seen other blockchain 3.0 projects have built solutions on cost, speed and scale, These concepts did not exist when EOS started.

01 Sailing against the current, if you do not advance, you will retreat: the EOS Network Foundation was born
In "Through the Looking-Glass" by Lewis Carroll, the Red Queen replies to Alice:
"In this kingdom, running has to keep running to keep you in place."
In 1973, Van Valen, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Chicago, put forward the "Red Queen Hypothesis", explaining why species must constantly adapt and evolve: because we live in an ever-evolving ecosystem, we are constantly evolving with other species. All species compete for survival, and everything is competition. This is actually a zero-sum game, where no progress means regress, and stagnation means death.
This is very much like the state of EOS as it has not been able to evolve and keep pace with the competition in the market. If you take a quick look at the market cap and general trends of EOS, you will know what the market thinks of EOS and other ecological competitors: in its current state, EOS is not really an attractive investment.
The establishment of the EOS Network Foundation (ENF) is a big step in the right direction for the EOS community. Prior to this, the EOS ecosystem lacked the ability to coordinate resources, put the best interests of EOS token holders first, and fund decisions based on the interests of EOS token holders.
Now, because of the EOS Network Foundation, we now have the leadership and resources to guide the EOS ecosystem onto a better development track. But we must also accept the fact that EOS competitors will continue to innovate, so if we want to catch up, we need to forge ahead and adapt to market changes and ecological needs at double the speed.
We must highly iterate, conduct frequent and targeted funding, quickly adapt to the changing market situation with predictability, and continue to invest in developers, project parties, and individuals who are willing to innovate on EOS to promote The rapid development of EOS. An incentivized and coordinated ecosystem will be a thriving ecosystem.

03 The first batch of EOS ecological funding plan with 3.4 million US dollars
Fostering new ideas and initiatives is important to expand the EOS ecosystem, but at the same time, there are already many established projects and businesses in the community. Despite the lack of network-wide support, their efforts to support EOS over the years are worthy of recognition.
When the Advisory Board of the EOS Network Foundation held its first meeting, members recognized the urgent need for funding distribution in the EOS ecosystem. Therefore, in the absence of a formal application process, we decided to launch the first batch of EOS ecological project funding programs to support these proven projects and enterprises.
This is an early signal that the EOS Network Foundation is prioritizing supporting and empowering the EOS community.
The Board of Directors proposed a set of objective and unbiased criteria to enable rapid and efficient selection of projects for initial funding.
But the prerequisite for project selection is that each project or business needs to have been established and known by the majority of foundation board members. But since none of these projects have submitted applications and have no promotional materials, each decision is made based on the reputation of the project and its history of building or collaborating on EOS. Recognized projects or businesses will receive equal funding regardless of their contributions.

In the end, 34 projects were selected, and each project will receive a grant of US$100,000 as a token of appreciation for their early support of the EOS ecosystem and encouragement for continued work in the future. This funding does not affect the eligibility of the funded projects to apply for additional funding after Pomelo goes live.
Funding is divided into five rounds, and today we are happy to share the list of the first round, which includes six projects in the EOS Media, NFT, and Community categories. Other categories to be announced in the coming months include (in no particular order): Security Audit, Wallets, Tools, Social, Gaming, DeFi, and Interoperability.
In two weeks, the EOS Network Foundation will announce the largest funding round of the period, with 11 grants totaling $1.1 million. The list of additional grantees will be updated every two weeks, with all 34 grantees announced within eight weeks.
The following is an introduction to the first batch of sponsored projects:
EOS Go - Launched in 2017, EOS Go has become the largest news media platform with the most stable output in the EOS community. Since its establishment 4 years ago, EOS ecological trends have been regularly updated every week, and all content is published in Chinese and English. It is a link between EOS Chinese and English Excellent communication bridge for the community.
ByWire News - A publishing platform and new information aggregator platform with content stored in IPFS and hash-mapped to the EOS public blockchain. Its user account system utilizes full EOS accounts, providing features such as gamification, rewards, and ultimately democratic oversight.
Atomic Assets - EOSIO standard for non-fungible tokens. Atomic Assets makes it easy for anyone on EOS to mint NFTs that can be traded on the Atomic Assets marketplace.
Finney.World - Initially launched on EOS, Finney is a multi-chain community-driven NFT project used as an incentive for community content creation and participation.
Koreos - an early DAO and one of the earliest EOS communities in Korea. Koreos builds a communication bridge between South Korea and the West by translating EOS English content written or spoken into Korean.
EOS Microloan - A socio-economic system powered by EOS, where unbanked participants are building a new economy based on creating liquidity and opportunities for businesses and customers.

04 Pomelo: Official channel for applying for funding
Distributing funds throughout the EOS ecosystem in the form of grants is one of the main responsibilities of the EOS Network Foundation, as this way it motivates the entire community to work together towards a common goal. We expect Pomelo to go live at some point in the near future as the ecosystem support funds continue to roll out.

We encourage all community members, old and new, to start working on their funding proposals as soon as possible so that they can be submitted in time for Pomelo's launch. During this period, interested community members can learn about Ethereum Gitcoin, first have a general understanding of the expected situation, or some potential ideas.
In the EOS ecosystem, there has been debate about what it lacks or needs to be more successful. Traditionally, the community has held that block producers are responsible for filling these gaps, since they are the only ones who receive revenue from the network.

05 Incubate more EOS ecological leaders
EOS could benefit from a myriad of initiatives, but it can be difficult to identify which individuals/teams have what it takes to make them happen. One of the reasons why a tool like Pomelo is invaluable to the EOS ecosystem is that it leverages the wisdom of the crowd, allowing anyone to formally propose a plan, build it, and get it done, including how they want to do it and benefit EOS , and how to evaluate the results in the end.
EOS should be seen as a growing business and any work that advances that business or is of value can be incentivized.
It is easier to determine what EOS "needs" than to know "who is more qualified and willing to build the EOS ecosystem". Once this work can be done through a public portal like Pomelo, the focus will shift to the teams and individuals who carry out their suggested work, continuing to add value to EOS.

06 Establish global cooperation and expand the foundation's influence
Although the EOS Network Foundation is only a month old, with the EOS ecosystem behind it, the only way we can expect EOS to succeed is to move at least twice as fast as the competition.
The collective effort of everyone goes far beyond what any centralized entity can accomplish independently. EOS was and remains one of the largest DAOs in the blockchain ecosystem.
In addition to funding work for the EOS community, the EOS Network Foundation has also rapidly expanded its multi-chain work by strengthening the team with many strategic partners.
After detailed investigation and understanding, ENF has established cooperative relationships with domestic and overseas multi-national public relations companies, brand agencies, law firms, accounting firms and KYC compliance companies to further help expand the influence of the EOS Foundation and achieve twice the result with half the effort Effect.
Speaking of which, we are bound to face challenges as many people refuse to participate in EOS. One of our greatest challenges will be to change the perceptions that have been formed so far. This is the reality we are currently facing.
We have established business relationships with world-class partners. Their rapid response capabilities, wider community scale, and professional operational opinions can help the EOS ecosystem to grow rapidly to a new level.
For example, the branding agency, whose portfolio includes companies like Microsoft and AirBnB, will help EOS attract attention across multiple verticals.
We have also established cooperation with a number of brand companies. These institutions will represent EOS through media channels, and at the same time use their deep industry experience and networks across multiple languages and cultures around the world to help the development of the EOS ecosystem.
We are genuinely excited about what EOS can achieve, as all things continue to fall into place.
In the future, we will continue to do our best to bring due changes and leadership to EOS as soon as possible. The past does not define the future, and being a part of the EOS community has never been more exciting.
