Analysis: Dollar would fall if Hassett or Malpass takes over as Fed governor
4 hours ago

According to foreign media analysis, if US President Trump chooses Kevin Hassett or David Malpass to succeed Kugler as Fed Governor, the US dollar may weaken. This is because Hassett and Malpass are seen as more dovish than Kevin Warsh, another popular candidate for the position. Trump will announce Kugler's successor before the end of this week, and this person may also become the Fed Chairman who will succeed Powell. Trump has currently narrowed the candidates to four: Hassett, Malpass, Warsh, and current Fed Governor Waller. Regardless of who Trump ultimately chooses to replace Kugler, that person is likely to advocate for a Fed interest rate cut of more than 25 basis points in September. (Jinshi)
