Odaily Planet Daily News: US President Trump: The new head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics will be announced in the next three to four days.
On Friday, Trump ordered the firing of the director of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), which releases non-farm payroll data, after he claimed, without evidence, that disappointing employment data was "rigged." The agency later confirmed that Erika McEntarfer had been fired, and her deputy, William Wiatrowski, would serve as acting director. The July jobs report, released earlier on Friday, showed just 73,000 new jobs added last month. The BLS also announced a significant revision, showing a total of 258,000 fewer jobs than previously thought. This was the second-largest two-month downward revision on record, surpassed only by those during the pandemic.
