BBC to take legal action against AI startup Perplexity for scraping content without permission

Odaily News The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has taken its first action against a tech company for alleged copyright infringement, threatening legal action against artificial intelligence search engine startup Perplexity, saying it has evidence that Perplexity's "default AI model" was trained using BBC content. The BBC said it may seek a court injunction unless Perplexity stops crawling all BBC content and proposes a "financial compensation plan" to make up for the intellectual property infringement.
