Odaily News: Jesse Pollak, the head of Coinbase's Layer 2 network, announced at the EthCC conference in Paris that Coinbase is building L2 because they believe decentralization is the key to achieving an open global economy. Pollak outlined three commitments of Base, including investing in decentralized technologies, participating in an open and neutral framework (through collaboration with the Optimism Collective), and funding public goods. Additionally, Pollak stated that Base will launch its mainnet in August and is currently open to builders. In August, Base will also announce the first round of donations for builders and will hold the SUPERHACK online hackathon from August 4th to 18th, with a total prize value of over $100,000.
